Why should you not make candle holders out of flammable material?

I have seemed too many holders made of flammable material. When the candle burns down, possibly when the user is sleeping, the base catches on fire and becomes a torch to set the building on fire.

I have especially had difficulty with crafty visitors at the Bosque Village who make candle holders which are flammable. I ask "Is that going to catch on fire?" and they, being young and unable to see the future answer, "No,"

This chandelier is painted wood with little plastic parts recycled from water containers. It caught fire. Notice the ceiling is made of wood.

Here is a nice recycling idea. The base is made from concrete using an older plastic water bottle as a mold and plastic to contain the flames. But in a draft the plastic later caught fire. Perhaps glass candle holder would work better.  So make candle holders use Glass is safe.

Here is an accident waiting to happen, but it was a very pretty advent yule log. The whole base is wood and flammable stuff. So long as we kept an eye on it, it was safe. And it was burned outside in a spot where if the table caught on fire, it would cause limited damage. The base eventually caught on fire a little, but since it was made of organic materials, we just tossed it out to compost. Notice the candles are large with thick wicks for longer and better outdoor burning. 

This kind of setting shows the danger. This building is made with resinous wood and with drinking going on, an unattended candle would burn this cabin right up, likely causing a forest fire. Party carefully!
